Our Continuing Response in the Aftermath of Super Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines

I do thank God for the continuing support of everyone to help our disaster-stricken country, the Philippines. The Filipino Food Bazaar was a huge success due to the overwhelming generosity of both church members and our Japanese friends.

P-LS Newsletter for March 2012

Several years ago, I requested a friend to create a website for our prayer ministry called, Prayer-Life Seminars (P-LS). This ministry dates back some 27 years ago and was founded by an American and Korean War veteran, Dr. Hugh White. Under his able leadership, this prayer ministry has expanded to several countries in Asia and Africa as well as in New Zealand.

Happy Thanksgiving!

"That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving,

And tell of all Your wondrous works." - Psalm 26:7, NKJV

While Thanksgiving is not traditionally celebrated in Japan, the Christian community and those who are familiar with this western tradition, do remember and celebrate it. Our church, for example, is slated to have one this coming Sunday on…

Praise Items

Thank you very much for keeping us in your prayers.

Since the tragic events in Japan on March 11th, many people have been confirmed dead, surpassing the death toll recorded in the Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995 in Kobe, Japan. Moreover, some 13,000 people are still missing or are presumed dead. This number doesn't include those who have never been reported as missing -- like those from the coastal towns that were obliterated by the tsunami.…

Japan's 3.11.2011

Japan Calamity on Three-Eleven

The mighty oceans have roared, O Lord. The mighty oceans roar like thunder; the mighty oceans roar as they pound the shore. But mightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore — the Lord above is mightier than these! (…

God released men from sins in different two stories

Today, I'd like to share two testimonies with you.

Firstly, about Ron Brown.

He is a saxphone player and has been playing with famous musicians, like Stievie Wonder, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston and Duke Ellinmgton etc...

Last month, on the 17th he came to Kumamoto, played his music and shared his testimony with us in a Gospel Concert.

Many years ago he suffered from illegal drugs.

He entered a medical facility to stop abusing…

I bought his CD "Worship again" firstly and fell in love with his songs.

What two women did for Japanese patients.

Hi, everyone.

I live in Kumamoto and can introduce about it.

Today I'd like to share a story with you.

It's all about what two women did for Japanes patients.

Some of you might already know this story.

Hannah Riddell came to Japan in 1890 as a missionary from London.

One day she went out to see cherry blossom with Japanese friends in Honmyo temple.

There she saw many lepers gathered under the trees to beg for…

Easy Gospel Songs to Practice in Japanese!

Hi everyone,

I am unofficially translating many English gospel songs into Japanese.

Like I said, it's unofficial, I don't know what kind of permission you need to have to officially translate gospel songs....I thought I want to share with u some of the easiest songs I have translated, so that you can praise God in Japanese in your own time. It is truly wonderful to praise God in different languages, more so if your first language is Japanese.

So…

In Case You're Wondering

Why does JPL still exist?

With the current membership that we have in this site, it's not easy to just let it go away. Admittedly, not everyone registered here is actively participating, but to those who did and the others who still visit this site once in a while, the option to continually operate JPL is a better option. Moreover, this site will continue to advocate for God's kingdom work in Japan and to connect those who have a heart for Japan and her…

this is how I feel

I see His gentleness, grace in your humbleness and silence of wisdom.

30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 And by chance there came…

Extreme Makeover: Jesus edition

I liked the analogy I used to illustrate the meaning of sanctification (= the process of being changed by Jesus) in small Bible class. I liked it so much so I decided to share it here, instead of keeping it in myself and thinking that I did such a good job. hehe

There's a TV program called Extreme Makeover: Home edition

(Japanese version is: "…
