Jesus on Prayer from the Gospel of St. Matthew

"And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites...." (Matthew 6:5)

"But you, when you pray, go into your room ... pray to your Father who is in the secret place...." (Matthew 6:6)

"And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do" (Matthew 6:7).

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7)

So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting." (Matthew 17:20-21).

"Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." (Matthew 18:19-20)

"And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." (Matthew 21:22)

I like to pray but I do pray much less than I think I should.

Those verses in Mattew that Pastor Joseph quotes teach me how to pray.
I think when you pray you need to work your faith together.

What is faith? I think it is a heart of trusting God.
".......believe that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Heb. 11:6)

God does not see our acts itself, but the heart behind act.

Even non believers can say "I will pray" but they pray without faith.
Faith that expresses our hearts is a Christians' priviledge.

"whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you recieve them and you will have them" (Mark 11:24)

"By faith Abraham, when he was tested......Concluding that God was able to raise him up...."
(Heb. 11:17-19)

"But let him ask in faith with no douting......."(James1:6-7)

I want to pray trusting God will help, lead and reward me.
